No more Lavish Weddings for Hyd Muslims Andhra News Daily


Lavish Weddings have always been a issue of concern in a country like India. Most of the families in the country treat the expenditure spent during the marriage ceremonies as a matter of pride. Eventually, They end up getting debt ridden.

As per an estimate, Muslims based in Hyderabad alone spend around Rs 4,000 crore per year on Weddings.

High Expenditure and Dowry has badly affected majority of the poor and middle-class Muslims in Hyderabad. As a result, Hyderabads Muslim Organisations have decided to impose fine on the families who were found to spending a bomb on such ceremonies. Even Religious Heads were asked to boycott lavish weddings.



All India Jamiat-ul-Quresh declared that a fine of Rs 50,000 will be imposed on organizers of lavish weddings.

A Hyd-based NGO, Tehreek-e-Muslim Shabban recently begun the Ek Khana, Ek Meetha (One Dish, One Desert) campaign.
