It is one of the most talked movies of 2016. Sonam Kapoor is playing the character of Neerja Bhanot, who fought bravely to save her passengers. The Neerja movie is directed by Ram Madhvani. The movie has Sonam Kapoor in lead and Shabana Azmi and Shekhar Ravjiani in supporting role. Shekhar Rajviani is Shekhar of the music director duo Vishal-Shekhar. This movie is produced by Atul Kasbekar. Music of the movie is given by Vishal Khurana. The budget of the movie is 25 crore.

The Neerja movie focused on the real hijacking of the Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi, Pakistan and mainly based on the flight attendant Neerja Bhanot. The movie focuses on the bravery of Neerja Bhanot and how she fought to save the life of the passenger. In January of 2015, it was decided that Sonam Kapoor will play the role Neerja Bhanot, the senior flight crew member. She is the youngest recipient of bravery award Ashok Chakra. This is based on the actual highjacking of Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi, Pakistan 1986. Neerja Bhanot, the flight attendant of this flight fought bravely and saved the life of the passenger. She was of only 23. This was a huge news at that time. At that time, there was no active media, only national Doordarshan, and some newspapers.
Sonam Kapoor started to shoot for this movie after after her promotion of Dolly Ki Doli and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. It was decided that Shabana Azmi will play a crucial role in this movie. Later it was confirmed that she will play the mother of Neerja Bhanot. Shekhar Ravjiani the half of the Bollywoods famous music director Vishal-Shekhar duo. Shekahr Ravjiani is making his acting debut in this movie. He is playing the Neerja Bhanots lover in this film. It will be a small but pivotal one. The trailer of this movie was released on 17th December 2016.
