I have been dying to wear this combo since it snuck its way into my wardrobe. It is from Never fully dressed - They have so many beautiful pieces, especially the longline items, they are all exactly my style.
I love that you could wear this duster or the trousers separately with other outfits and they would blend seamlessly with so many other pieces in your wardrobe. The trousers also look great rolled up slightly for a more casual finish.
I added a slight playfulness with the bag and a simple finish with the strappy heels, I didnt want to take away too much from the feel and flow of these materials and from this waterfall look.

Never too early and never too late
Today I saw a woman playing with her two month old daughter in the indoor swimming pool, and ten minutes later breastfeeding the baby to sleep in the locker room, with her wet back toward the crowd. The baby, Sonya, may or may not grow up to be an Olympic swimming champion. But she most probably will be very comfortable in the waters, primed by her parents excitement, loving encouragement and yummy conditioning routine.
I have been very lucky to receive a similar introduction to math. All the way from the toddler years. Little daily challenges, support and excitement from our joint success in my parents eyes. I believed them that it is fun, simple and important, and I wanted to do it for me and for them. I am trying to repeat this now with my own kids, looking for the blurred line between hard earned achievement and exhausted aversion. Like a swim teacher pushing for additional 100 meters to let your body memorize the stroke moves.
Math, swimming or anything else. What if we have not had our chance back in childhood? If we never tried, failed or disliked? Can we wake up this potential joy? I believe that we can. At the age of 37, I have learned to love swimming. By accident. As part of a recent personal development resolution, a canceled lesson for my son has turned into my swimming lessons. I am still pretty bad, much worse than my 9 year old son. But I now have an affair with a pool. Once revolting, cold chlorinated waters now wink and flirt and I slowly give myself more and more by learning to trust them. I try to sneak in two-three times a week, excited from my achievements, feeling young and happy. So, perhaps it is possible. To get back the spirit of the youth by learning something we have missed back then. Something that may not have been presented to us properly, something that has withered before having a chance to bloom. My list only starts with swimming. Whats on your list?

Michael Crichton is of course famous for authoring a book that correctly predicted the Jurassic Park disaster before it happened and long before they made a movie about it. While the scientists were busy in their labs playing with dinosaur jeans, a science author who understood science better than any scientist ever could predicted the theory that life always finds a way and that velociraptors would learn how to use door handles.
Ivory Towers
The consensus, AKA the official story, can never be trusted, because trust no-one. Always suspect They are out to get you. That way if they are you at least werent fooled. Thats why I will never trust textbooks. Science textbooks and history textbooks in particular are full of official stories written by official writers. Only when textbooks are written by the uneducated (ie free thinking) bloggers of the internet with ideas that scientists openly deride will I take textbooks seriously.
At the center of every university is a tower made of ivory. These towers are probably in excess of 80 feet tall. Question: from such a height why havent academics noticed the lack of curvature of the Earth? Just a question, nothing more. Unlike the Earth the best arguments are circular, that way there are no loose ends.

Evidence
I have made the font of that quote quite small because I dont want to honor such arrogance with any sort of presence. Who writes the dictionaries? Officials from Oxford who proclaim their book-bound definitions of words are true by consensus. Dictionaries, like libraries are synonymous with "education", the concept that truth can be learned rather than imagined.
Evidence is really defined as anything they dont want us to know. Examples of evidence include:
- Bits of old email
- Birth certificates
- Anything released by FOIA
- Original photos of the moon found on some obscure NASA sub domain which they have probably accidentally released
- Anything that was on a government website one day but has suddenly "disappeared" the next, especially if it involves sea ice
Alternative Theories
Perhaps global temperature changes are caused by steam pipes, or undersea volcanoes, could cloud experiments at CERN have opened up a black hole from all that science stuff they keep doing with colanders? It makes sense that a black hole would absorb more sunlight. Could that explain the minuscule amount of warming of which there is no evidence for? What if there never was a global temperature because you cant average temperature over a globe? What if the concept of averaging is number fraud? What if there cant be a global temperature because the world isnt a globe? That might explain why scientists are so keen on us accepting the world is round, because their climate models are programmed that way and they are too lazy to correct them. Sometimes there is a second shooter, and sometimes it is just a ploy to take away our guns.

As a freelance Illustrator still scraping my fingernails to get noticed by the industry, Ive created a site that includes multiple styles. I had been told all through art school this was a big No-No to feature multiple styles under the same name. I find this rather frustrating, as Im sure Editors can appreciate diverse styles to fit story needs right? Is it better to have one solidified style to brand ones self in the memory of Editors? Or do you appreciate an artist with multiple approaches to solving a childrens text?I like multiple styles. The designers I know like multiple styles. I dont know what theyre teaching people in art school.
I hear people talk all the time about revising manuscripts based on what rejection letters say. If I have received 50 form rejection letters that have no specific connection to my writing, does that mean my work is not worth commenting on, editors are over-worked, or something else entirely?I would say thats a bad sign. Whether it means youve been submitting something unremarkable or submitting to people who dont take the sort of thing youre submitting, I dont know.
About a year ago I sent out a manuscript to three slush piles of three prominent houses and a couple of other places which shall not be named. Today I was walking through Target and saw MY BOOK WITH ANOTHER PERSONS name on it. Obviously, it was her book, containing my idea, and a little suspicious that it is out a little less than one year after submitting it. Is this just how the business works? Does my book even have a chance? Should I hope that it is a best-seller so that another publisher wants to pick up my book? Should I get a lawyer? Okay, so not the last, but it is tough seeing a water-down version of my fabulous story on the shelves. Yes, it may be like the Twilight phenomena and we just had the same idea at the same time, but it doesnt make me feel better. The one saving grace is that I like the illustrations and I know that another version is worth publishing. Though the reason I like the illustrations of the womans book so much is because they are very similar to the illustration that I sent in on my cover letter. I know these things happen, but I feel I need a "pat on the back" and "carry on young grasshopper". I promise I wont be pathetic tomorrow.First of all, its unlikely that a publisher could find your idea in the submissions pile and crank out an imitation in less than a year. The book you saw in Target has most likely been underway for a couple years. Likewise, if you sell your manuscript, it will be another couple of years before it comes out. So unless its a very unusual topic and your approach isnt meaningfully different, theres hope for your book yet.
I write literary fiction, mostly, as well as young adult. But thats beside the point. My question is what does one do with a 15,000 word story--not long enough to be a novel, but not short enough (I understand) to be a short story. Is there any way to sell stories around that length?Probably not. I mean, Seedfolks is around 11,000 words, but chances are youre not Paul Fleischman. And I cant think of anything that short in YA. I never say never, but that sounds like a bit of a long shot.

Never Say Never Again
My extreme dislove of baseballboth the sport and the act of going to see it playedis something I wrote about at length the last time I was persuaded to trot along with other knitters to see the White Sox to do their thang.
I wont sing that song again. I will take a moment to reiterate that while the American public insists it is my duty as a male citizen to love baseball, I insist it is my right as an adult citizen to not give a flying fig about it. Im fully on board with the flag, motherhood, and apple pie; but even Ken Burns couldnt get me to regard our soi-disant national pastime with anything other than a jaundiced eye.
And yet.
And yet when I got a call from the owner of our own, dear Loopy Yarns to please put together a promotional table on the day of Chicagos Stitch n Pitch event, how could I say no? Baseball has not been good to me, but knitting has. There would be 150 knitters at the parkbut also a few thousand people who might be among the lapsed or the latent. How often do you get a platform like that upon which to evangelize?
Would I do it? Sure I would. For knitting, I would do it.
Happily I had an accomplice and companion for the daymy friend Abigail. I first met her when she lured me up to LaCrosse, Wisconsin, to address the towns annual fiber gathering. You dont spend a wild weekend with somebody in LaCrosse and not form a bond.
Abigail is the sort of person who will drive you to the South Side, roll your dress form across five acres of parking and up a ramp while people cat-call, and never complain even though all she gets out of the deal is free nachos and beer. She will even push the dress form down the ramp and back across the parking lot, drive you home, and continue speaking to you.
Abigail is, to borrow a slangy bit of praise from P.G. Wodehouse, a complete brick.
So we set up a table and talked to people. I brought samples of my stuff and posted a directory of Chicagoland yarn shops and guilds, as well as information about the upcoming Big Deal Yarn Events (Stitches Midwest, Midwest Fiber and Folk Art Fair, Yarn Con, Vogue Knitting Live! Chicago) of which we have an abundance.
The knitters and crocheters were all lovely, and so were most of the shop owners. (Note to the sole exception: I was advertising your shop. Free. Happily. With great spirit. On my first and only day off in weeks. And I spent my own money doing it. If you want top billing, design input, and no nasty hairy dark ethnic men mucking up your lily white womens event, you go ahead and run the table next year. Really. Its all yours, honey.)
Mostly, because they were the majority, Abigail and I talked to people who were not knitters, or crocheters, or needleworkers of any stripe. About thirty minutes into the game we realized we kept hearing the same things over and over. So to beguile the time and stave off madness, I drew up a bingo card. (If you click it, itll get bigger.)
By the top of the fifth inning, the drunks were starting to lurch perilously close to the lace and we decided to break camp. We had achieved bingo forty-seven times.
But I think we got a few more people into the tent.
It was worth it.

--An interview with filmmaker Angad Singh Bhalla

Canadian filmmaker Angad Singh Bhalla has never shied away from examining politically controversial topics. Nor does he play down his own artistic goal of using media to foster political change. Bhallas first independent work, entitled U.A.I.L. Go Back amplified the voices of Indian villagers resisting an alumina project backed by the Canadian company Alcan. The film became an important organizing tool used to pressure Alcan into ending its involvement in the project.
Bhalla has since co-founded Time of Day Media.and while working as a community organizer for immigrant rights, he produced videos for the Service Employees International Union, Working America, the Center for Constitutional Rights and other groups. His award-winning short on the lives of Indian street artists, Writings on the Wall, was broadcast on Canadas Bravo! and Al Jazeera English.

Bhallas debut feature documentary was the 2012 film Hermans House, about Herman Wallace of the Angola 3 and the collaborative project Wallace worked on with artist Jackie Sumell, entitled The House That Herman Built. The film screened at more than 40 festivals, was distributed theatrically in the US and Canada, and won an Emmy Award for its 2013 POV broadcast on PBS.

In this interview, filmmaker Angad Singh Bhalla discusses his latest film, The Deeper They Bury Me, while also reflecting upon his 2012 film Hermans House, his personal relationship with Wallace and more. Bhalla concludes the interview with a focus on the call by Amnesty International and the International Coalition to Free the Angola 3 for the immediate release of Albert Woodfox, who is the last of the Angola 3 behind bars. Despite three overturned convictions, Woodfox remains in prison and in solitary confinement, where he was first placed over 43 years ago.

Angola 3 News: Can you please tell us how you first heard of Herman Wallace and the Angola 3?
Angad Singh Bhalla: I first heard about Herman Wallace and the Angola 3 in 2002, shortly after Robert Kings release from prison. Artist Jackie Sumell organized a lecture for King at Stanford University, where I co-hosted a political talk show on the campus radio station at the time. Robert King remains one of the most memorable discussions we ever had on that show.

A3N: Your bio states that you use your films to call attention to voices we rarely hear and as a means of fostering political change. Your 2012 film Hermans House certainly helped to amplify Hermans voice and it created more public attention to Herman and the Angola 3.
Looking beyond the immediate campaign for Hermans release from prison and solitary confinement, as well as the continuing call today for Albert Woodfoxs release from prison and solitary, what do you feel were the central messages that you sought to focus on with Hermans House?
ASB: With the documentary Hermans House, the real central message was that Herman Wallace, like all the other people we incarcerate, is a human being. As simple as that sounds, I think the prison industrial complexs most devastating impact has been to dehumanize the people it incarcerates. We did not show any images of prisons in the documentary because I believe even the very sight of a prison can contribute to this dehumanization process.
With the film I hoped to transform Herman and indirectly everyone else we incarcerate from a convict or felon into a brother, a mentor, a friend and like all of us a dreamer. In that sense, unlike other profiles, I was not as focused on Hermans innocence. While Herman was wrongfully convicted, I wanted to focus on the nature of his incarceration which ties him to the 2.3 million other Americans we put in prison.

A3N: Now with the release of The Deeper They Bury Me a few years after Hermans House, do the fundamental themes and issues addressed in this film differ at all? Otherwise, how do you think The Deeper They Bury Me complements Hermans House?
ASB: Similar to Hermans House, I think the theme of humanizing Herman and focusing on the conditions of his incarceration remain in The Deeper They Bury Me. But at the same time I think The Deeper They Bury allowed me to bring more attention to the specific circumstances around Hermans story.
In that sense I tried to highlight Hermans past growing up in a segregated New Orleans to highlight how Americas racist history relates directly to Americas racist present. This experience of it being more a telling of Hermans story by Herman, allowed me to explore his political convictions and work with the Black Panther Party more than I could in the film. I tried to highlight Hermans position as a political prisoner in The Deeper They Bury Me.
Overall I think the interactive aspect compliments the film by providing much more of the historical and political conditions of Hermans incarceration. While Hermans situation may have been unique, those conditions are not. I hope that through this interactive telling of Hermans experience viewers begin to understand that history is present.
There is a reason that in the United States, people of color account for nearly 60% of the imprisoned while making up only 30% of the population. There is a reason that the United States, black Americans are six times more likely to be imprisoned than white Americans.
These reasons are not simple and go back to the founding myths of this country, which is why there are more black men under some form correctional supervision (imprisoned, on parole, or probation) than were enslaved in 1850.

A3N: The interactive format of The Deeper They Bury Me is very cutting edge. Can you tell us more about the various interactive features that our readers will find when they go to watch the film? What do you feel that this interactive format adds? How does it change or enrich the viewing experience?
ASB: Well, the entire experience is set up to determine what aspects of Hermans life the user wants to hear him talk about. In many ways the prison industrial complex relies on framing spaces as tools of punishment and coercion. This interactive format allows people to actually explore 3D replicas of Hermans cell, his dream bedroom, and prison dorm. Interacting with these spaces in relation to one another, I think, allows users to really question our notions of freedom and confinement.
While not all the environments are available at the same time, the user gets to decide which spaces she wants to linger in and which elements of Hermans story she wants hear more about. Not being constrained by a linear narrative structure and the idea of always moving an audience forward, the interactive format provides audiences the opportunity to go deeper into what would be considered Hermans back-story in a traditional documentary.
While of course the linear documentary is my point of reference in many ways, The Deeper They Bury Me is an entirely different kind of storytelling. It will never replace the linear form, but at the same time, it allows the user to get to enter Hermans world from the point that is most relevant to them. Further, as a tool, being able to access each of the 25 one-minute videos independently allows activists to craft a narrative that best suits their campaign work. Hermans story is so relevant for todays young activists that I wanted to try to tell it in a form that is more relevant to young people who communicate so much now online.

A3N: Along with your two films about Herman, in 2014 another Angola 3-related film was made in Canada, entitled Hard Time, by Ron Harpelle, which focused on Robert H King. Seen in the context of these three films, how do you think Canadian audiences have responded to the story of the Angola 3?
ASB: I think like most audiences, Canadian audiences are shocked when they first hear the story of the Angola 3. I think the Angola 3 story may find more receptive outlets in Canada and other countries outside the US simply because people feel good pointing out injustices happening in other countries.
In the learn more section of site we included the fact that Aboriginal Canadians are ten times more likely to be incarcerated that other Canadians. As much as we Canadians might like to deny it, our criminal justice system extends from a sordid history of oppression and remains a racist tool of social control.

A3N: What is the significance of the National Film Board of Canadas (NFB) involvement with The Deeper They Bury Me, both producing it and hosting the film on their website? How did the NFB become involved with the film?
ASB: In 2010, I approached the NFB looking for their support to help produce Hermans House, the linear film. It was producer Anita Lee at the NFB, who proposed the idea of creating an independent interactive piece that became The Deeper They Bury Me.
The NFB has been leading the development of interactive online storytelling since the field first emerged, so I was extremely excited that they saw interactive potential in Hermans story. The NFB is not only a Canadian institution but it has a global legacy of producing critical independent documentary films, including films that inspired me to get into the field, like Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and The Media. As an NFB production, The Deeper They Bury Me becomes a part of an essential collection and will most importantly introduce Hermans Story to an even broader audience.

A3N: In October, 2013 after battling liver cancer for several months, Herman Wallace was released from prison. Just a few days later, he passed away in the company of family and friends. In the days following, tributes to Herman ranged from US Congressmen to the Washington Post and New York Times. As someone who has studied Hermans life so closely, can you please reflect on his life and share with us what you think his legacy is today?
ASB: Its would be hard to overstate the impact Herman has had on my life. More than merely the subject of my past two documentary projects, over the 6 years that we conversed by phone he became both a friend and teacher in so many ways.
To be exonerated and released three days before passing away was undoubtedly tragic, but in so many ways Hermans story is one of victory. His legacy will forever be that of someone who stood up to injustice and won. Not in the Hollywood way of winning where everything turns out okay in the end but in the messy way people who have struggled for justice get to win.
For four decades the system tried to silence Herman for his resistance. But like Hermans poem from which this piece is titled, the deeper they tried to bury Herman the louder his voice became. The system had planned for Herman to die in prison, and even through he enjoyed only three days of freedom, he defied that system and that defiance made headlines around the world.
Herman decided long ago that he was willing to sacrifice his life to serve as symbol for so much of what is wrong with Americas prison industrial complex. As sad as I am that I lost a friend, I can feel his spirit smiling with the knowledge that his struggle and eventual victory is still inspiring a new generation of activists.

A3N: We in the International Coalition to Free the Angola 3 have sought to honor Hermans legacy by turning grief into strength, and working for the immediate release of Albert Woodfox from both prison and solitary confinement, so that he will be able spend more time outside prison walls than Herman was able to. In February 2013, several months before Hermans cancer diagnosis, Alberts conviction was overturned for a third time. Subsequently, in November 2014, this third overturned conviction was upheld by the US Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and then in June 2015, US District Court Judge James Brady ruled for Alberts immediate and unconditional release, as well as banning a retrial. Yet, to this day Albert remains in solitary confinement.
What do you think about Alberts treatment in recent years, especially following Hermans death? How about this US criminal justice system where an elder prisoners conviction can be overturned for a third time, but still be held captive and in solitary confinement?
ASB: Sadly nothing about Alberts treatment both prior to and following Hermans death surprises me.
Like Herman, Albert has always been used by the state as an example to others who might fight back against state oppression. There is not a criminal justice system in America, there is a system of social control that relies on incarceration and violence. The state must put all the resources it has at its disposal to keep torturing people like Albert to make sure other people who even consider exposing the systems contradictions think twice.
Look at how the NYPD have been continuing to harass and abuse Ramsay Orta, the man who recorded the NYPD murder of Eric Garner and his family. As a result, you dont get enough skilled crafters who put in the decades it takes to get really good at it. (Not to mention the obvious effects of having an entire art form almost exclusively written and designed by young people, still mostly men.) This is especially clear when it comes to the storytelling.
Good storytelling requires a very fine understanding of humanity. How it acts. How it develops. How people react to success and failure. And, sorry, this sort of fine awareness is only helped by living, experiencing things, and thoroughly absorbing what others have learned and experienced.
(ProTip: If you want to write game stories or anything else, you should be a voracious reader and watcher of things. Cast a broad net. If you take any sort of visual storytelling seriously and havent seen, say, The Godfather, or Casablanca, or just about anything by Orson Welles, youre doing it wrong. Money on the street, and youre just walking by.)

(And yes, a lot of these movies are good. One of my favorite films is The Crying Game, and everyone got so overheated about its crazy twist that they often failed to notice its a fantastic film about how complex and unpredictable love can be.)
Surprise wacky twists were good for a while. Now theyre in half the games I play, and we need to take a break. They are the enemy of good storytelling.
Yeah, You Read That Right.
Good storytelling is, in the end, about humanity. About the choices they make, the results they have, and how those results affect us.
You know something? Those results are almost never surprising. Thats the point. Its part of being human: The things we bring upon ourselves, good or bad, are often entirely predictable. You saw them coming a mile away (or you were deliberately not paying attention).
The patterns in the lives of others are frequently obvious, but the patterns in our own lives are often almost impossible to see. We can only recognize them when they are shown to us, so we can go: Oh. Yeah. Thats me. Or thats not me, and I know why.
That is how great storytelling works. THAT IS WHY WE HAVE ART.
(Which is why its so horribly depressing that our schools have been systematically purged of arts education in lieu of eternal test prep. A cynical person might think that were removing anything that creates fully rounded humans and citizens of a Republic so that we can instead mass-manufacturer mindless work drones ranked and measured according to meaningless test scores. Happily, nobody has ever accused me of being cynical.)

I am not trying to eliminate all surprises in drama. You can have big reveals. What I am specifically calling out are wacky twists, defined as those that require withholding key information from the viewer, out and out lying to the viewer, or using other storytelling tricks to obscure a key fact that would otherwise be instantly obvious.
Why Surprise Twist Endings Are Stupid
Here are some reasons.
1. They lie to the reader/viewer, or they withdraw key information. When youre telling a story and trying to make an emotional connection, youre doing something difficult. Dont waste your time. Focus on creating your characters. Thats a tough enough job! Say the most relevant, interesting things about them. If you do your job right and make them compelling, you dont need secrets in the first place.
2. They degrade the viewers trust in future works of art. When I played Spec Ops: The Line, I was constantly distracted from immersion in the story by the suspicion that I was being lied to and some crazy twist was coming at the end. Of course, it was.
3. Youre risking all for an uncertain payoff. The movie The Sixth Sense worked because the insane twist at the end was pretty cool. Its also a very fragile thing. If your ending isnt really that clever, or if someone spoils it, your movie better be able to stand on its own. Which is usually cant. And if your movie could stand on its own, why did you need the twist in the first place?
4. Theres just a better way. There is nothing in the world, not spaceships blowing up, not a guy turning into a big green guy, nothing more interesting than human beings, the dumb ways they act, and why. Real stories, stories that LAST, are always about this. (And if you arent trying to do this, why arent you? Life is short.) If your wacky twist doesnt make your story be more about real people, youre just wanking. Throw it away.
And, finally, one key point specific to video games.
5. Most people dont finish video games, even short ones. If you put the crazy detail that makes your story make sense at the end of your game? Then, for most people who play your game, the story will never make sense at all! Its a big waste.

I enjoyed Bioshock: Infinite a fair amount, but I really didnt get into it the way most people seemed to. It seemed to feel obligated to have the trademark, crazy "Bioshock twist," which resulted in a story with far less punch than it could have had.
(Spoilers ahead for Bioshock: Infinite, of course. Stay calm.)
So heres the story. You play this guy named Booker who is hired to rescue a woman named Elizabeth from this floating racist city in the sky. When you find her, shes missing the tip of one of her fingers. As you run around and shoot racists, you explore the mystery of where she came from and why you are there.
You learn, at the end, that Booker is Elizabeths father. He sold her to pay off a gambling debt, and, when he tried to get her back, the tip of her finger was cut off.
Holy crap!
What a fantastic set-up for a story. A tormented father, guilty of a horrible crime, given a chance to redeem himself. A confused young woman who learns who her rescuer is and has to come to terms with what he did to her and the violent creature he has become. (Because its a video game, so hes still spending a lot of time decapitating racists with his robot hand.) Theres potential for a lot of cool, meaty drama and dialogue here.
Of course, none of that happens. Because Bookers relationship with his daughter (and that she is his daughter) has to stay secret until the very end of the game, for no reason.
It means that the whole, long game is spent with none of the characters ever talking about what they should be talking about. Elizabeth constantly goes on about her Disney princess "Oh, I wonder what life is like on the land?" issues, and expressing ambivalence about Bookers psychotic violence that doesnt come to anything, and constantly bugging you about the five dollars she found, instead of getting into any of the cool stuff that the story should have been about in the first place.
(If you want to see the superior drama that comes from letting a violent old guy and his young female ward talk about what they should be talking about, I plan to write about The Last of Us soon.)
And, again, a huge number of people dont finish games, unless they read the Wikipedia page. On Steam, as of this writing, only 58.2% of people who got the game achieved the Tin Soldier achievement, which means finishing the game at all. Thats actually a really big percentage.
It still means over 40% of the people who bought Bioshock: Infinite on Steam never learned one thing about Booker and Elizabeth and the finger and what was going on. I honestly feel that if all the crazy bananas stuff was openly presented in the beginning, it would make people more engaged in what was going on then just another generic Mystery Box.
Like I said, fun game. I did enjoy it, and there were a lot of good things about that story. And yet, I am allowed to be bothered by wasted potential.

Thats right, kid. Get it out of your system. Nothing easier than a big, categorical cheap shot. Still the Internet, after all.
The writing in my early games was, frankly, lousy. Its a side effect of having to spend the 10000 hours it takes to gain proficiency in public.
I have tried, over the last two decades, to write games with good stories. My resources are limited, and I have to write a game at the same time as the plot and dialogue. This is not to excuse my many failures, but to explain them.
I do believe Ive written some cool stories, and I think theyre getting better. I have some story ideas for a new game series, which I might be able to write someday, that I think are fantastic.
But if you think my stories suck, hey, cool man. Some people like them. De gustibus non est disputandum.
Its Just a Fad
Im not really worried about it. Wacky twist storytelling is a cul de sac. Theres really only so much you can do with it, compared with the infinite potential variety of simple stories about actual people doing actual things. As video games evolve as an art form, there will be a lot of dead ends.
And look at the bright side, if a writer is taking the time and effort to construct a twist, it at least means they care. Theyre trying! That is such a step up from game storytelling in the past.
The fact that this conversation could happen at all means weve come a long, long way.

Just thought id do a quick outfit post of this pretty playsuit I recently got from Primark, it came with the cute, red patent belt which adds a little pop of colour! The reason I love it so much is because of the peter pan collar of course! (little obsessed!)
Ive been testing out the new camera and am still getting used to it, so hopefully I shall be back with lots more outfit posts soon!
